Border Patrol Admits They Opened the Floodgates in AZ

If you’re anything like me, you probably think the situation at our southern border with Mexico couldn’t get much worse. But just wait… because it was just reported that Border Patrol knowingly and intentionally left gates in Arizona open for weeks on end.

Yes, you read that correctly.

According to the New York Post, members of Border Patrol made a rather shocking admission on Tuesday. If you aren’t from the Southern Arizona region, you might not know that heavy rains were forecast recently. In anticipation of those rains and possible flooding, Border Patrol literally opened their floodgates at the border in the state.

And then just left them open.

As I am sure you can imagine, this made it even easier for illegal migrants to cross into the US. And since shortly after those gates opened, a steady stream of illegals has made its way into our country without so much as a slap on the wrist.

According to the Post, about 1,400 individuals have been allowed to enter unhindered every single day the gates have been open. Naturally, this border section is now the busiest in the nation.

Initially, CBP and Border Patrol refused to take the blame.

But now, with the story out and untold, thousands now illegally here as a result of their actions, they’ve had little choice but to fess up.

As the agency told the Post, “USBP makes the final decision on opening gates based on operations conditions and forecasted weather.” Additionally, they noted that upcoming forecasted heavy rains in the area could have potentially built up “stress or compromise the design integrity of the barrier.”

Now, I can understand that to some degree. If the structure isn’t designed to hold up against massive amounts of water and the debris it could bring, you might be nervous that it will eventually be damaged and costly repairs made.

However, the question is what cost is accrued to just go ahead and open the gates to deflect that possible damage. And is it worth it?

If just one illegal immigrant makes it through those now open gates and causes harm to a US citizen, I say it’s not worth it. As it’s been proved over and over again, even at legal entry ports along the border, the proper checks aren’t being done. Criminals, drug dealers, cartel members, terrorists, rapists, etc., are getting into our communities and our homes and causing all sorts of problems in our society.

And if that wasn’t problematic enough, now we are going to just let literally anybody walk in completely unhindered?

Yeah, no. That’s not a good idea.

Plus, it’s not like those gates were just open a couple of hours or even a few days. They are still open and have been for weeks now. That’s weeks of God knows who is allowed to get into our nation and wreak whatever havoc they want to without any consequences.

As president of the National Border Patrol Council, Brandon Judd says he would accept no explanation for these actions.

“Those gates should never open up. What would be the reason for it? Why would you do it?”

He went on to explain that cartels are keeping watch all along the border and always have been. They’re looking for weaknesses for the smallest of openings. And the “moment something gets left open, it gets exploited.”

Evidence of this was seen within hours of this gate being left open. Immediately, people started streaming across the border. The cartels noticed right off the bat and began using this as an opportunity to get whatever they wanted into America.

CBP got used, and they know it. They also know exactly how these cartels work, as they see it on a daily basis. So why make things easier for cartels and harder for Americans?

As the agency is still staying pretty mum on the situation, we can only guess at this point. But nothing about it is good.
