If you haven’t heard, the now blue-leaning state of Colorado has officially banned former President Donald Trump’s name from appearing on their 2024 ballot. Texas is now suggesting they do the same thing to Joe Biden.
The Colorado Supreme Court ruled in favor of banning Trump’s name in a 4 to 3 decision on Tuesday.
As you may have heard or suspected, it was based on Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, a common clause brought against Trump in recent years. Basically, the Amendment bans anyone who “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof” is no longer legally allowed to hold office, specifically the office of the President.
Originally, the law was designed to keep those who fought for and aided the Confederacy from holding office after the Civil War.
Today, as you know, many on the political left would say that Trump incited insurrection and violence when he encouraged supporters to “peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard” in January 2021.
Despite the fact that neither Trump nor a single J6 defendant has been charged with insurrection, these Democratic Colorado judges have said no to him being on the ballot.
But as Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick just made clear, the Lone Star State could do the same to Biden, should they wish to.
Of course, it wouldn’t be for the same reason.
Instead, Patrick cites Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution, which states that it’s the president’s job to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.”
In other words, he is to uphold the laws of the land and protect the American people.
And according to just about anyone who has an issue with how our southern border with Mexico is being handled, we know Biden is not doing that.
Immigration laws are being blatantly ignored right and left.
Tens of thousands of illegals are crossing into the US every single day. Drugs such as fentanyl are being smuggled in mass quantities. Child and sex slave rings are being discovered everywhere. And sicknesses from other nations are killing our kids.
As Patrick told Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Tuesday evening, Biden is clearly not doing his job. He’s not even abiding by the laws, let alone executing them. And neither is he protecting Americans.

And for that, he claims his state “should take Joe Biden off the ballot in Texas for allowing 8 million people to cross the border since he’s been president, disrupting our state far more than anything anyone else has done in recent history.”
As Patrick pointed out, the number of those allowed to illegally cross over, thanks to Biden’s ineptitude, is the same size as our 12th largest state.
And because of that and the fact that Biden is literally not doing his job, border states like Texas have been forced to take matters into their own hands. TX Governor Abbott signed into law on Monday a bill that will make it a state crime to illegally enter the state, meaning that state and local law enforcement can arrest, detain, and deport migrants now.
Naturally, the federal government isn’t happy about their toes being stepped on here, but what else is Texas supposed to do?
And other border states like Arizona and New Mexico are having to make similar decisions.
If the Democrats are going to play this kind of game with the names they allow on their ballots, perhaps the GOP should play along. As Patrick said, Biden is plenty guilty himself. And unlike with Trump, it can be proved.
