If you didn’t already know it, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is failing his job. And now, he may have to live with a massive pay cut.
According to The Hill, the pay cut is part of a massive 2024 Transportation and Housing and Urban Development spending bill Congress is currently discussing. Known as the Holman rule, the pay cut of Buttigieg’s salary down to a single US dollar was adopted by a voice vote to become an amendment of the bill.
It passed in the House on Tuesday.
Now, as will all legislation, this does not mean the bill in its entirety is approved yet.
For starters, this is only a small part of the bill. Secondly, the cut has to be approved by the Democratic-run Senate.
But a Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who introduced the amendment, explained it’s fairly clear to see that Buttigieg has been less than efficient in his duties as Secretary of Transportation. So maybe a pay cut would incentivize him to do better.
In her remarks on the House floor, Greene said that Buttigieg has “failed to serve the American people,” making decisions based more on things like racism and climate change than the needs of the nation.
🚨 BREAKING: I’m proud to announce my amendment to FIRE Pete Buttigieg just PASSED the House.
Pothole Pete staged fake bike rides to the White House and used private planes funded by taxpayers to receive awards for the way certain people have sex.

She reminded her colleagues of the recent train derailments like that in East Palestine, Ohio, where toxic substances were released into the community. Yet, Buttigieg did next to nothing to either fix the situation or help those people.
Additionally, he has literally called roads “racist,” as if they were animate objects able to feel such things.
“He stated there is racism physically built into some of our highways. Every transportation decision is inherently, in many ways, a decision about equity.”
MTG also reminded them that before being moved to Washington, he was the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, which was known to have so many potholes on roads at the time that Buttigieg was called “Pothole Pete” by his constituents.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure someone who doesn’t actually do his job doesn’t deserve a salary – or at least not much of one.
