January 6 committee members listened eagerly as Cassidy Hutchinson recounted a tale of an enraged Donald Trump, grabbing at a steering wheel and assaulting a Secret Service agent when he was told he couldn’t go to the Capitol building with his supporters on January 6, 2021. They went all in when she made the shocking announcement that Trump, when told protestors were chanting “Hang Mike Pence,” responded with, “He deserves to be hung.”
Her testimony was the stuff of dreams for the desperate panel and news organizations. But now, thanks to a House committee charged with finding the truth behind the January 6 committee’s investigation, it seems it was a lie.
The House Administration Committee’s oversight subcommittee led by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) has been peeling back the layers of bias that were the fabric of the January 6th committee’s one-sided investigation and is finding multiple instances where the J8 committee twisted, fabricated, cherry-picked, and withheld pertinent evidence to reach their pre-determined conclusion about Trump’s actions on that day. Finding him accountable for the events of January 6 was the ammunition necessary to escalate the incident far beyond its actual significance for Trump, paving the way for Team Biden to legally dismantle the most significant challenge they face in the 2024 campaign cycle.
The subcommittee’s work involves releasing 5,000 additional hours of video footage of U.S. Capitol security footage to the public. Moreover, the subcommittee is holding hearings that concentrate on specific incidents, such as the investigation into the January 6 pipe bombs. These hearings provide a focused platform for scrutinizing various aspects surrounding the events of January 6.
The subcommittee’s efforts aim to ensure complete transparency and accountability regarding the events of January 6. This effort seeks to contrast the previous narrative the former Select Committee presented. The subcommittee is unwaveringly committed to uncovering the facts without succumbing to political bias.
As part of its process, the subcommittee plans to conclude its investigation with a final report later in the year. This report will likely highlight the findings, conclusions, and recommendations from thoroughly examining the events surrounding January 6, 2021.
Hutchinson testified that Trump was crazed by anger, hitting Secret Service agents and grabbing at steering wheels when he was told he couldn’t be a part of the “insurrection” at the Ellipse on the grounds of the Capitol Building.
Cool story, bro.
Based on recent interview transcripts from the January 6 committee, a witness referred to as “White House Employee Three” reported that Tony Ornato, the deputy chief of staff for Trump at the time, mentioned that President Trump was furious during the ride back to the White House because he wanted to be with his supporters.
However, the SUV driver told the January 6 committee that Trump never tried to grab the steering wheel. Meanwhile, “Employee Three” testified that despite Hutchinson’s claim of hearing Trump say Pence “deserved to be hanged,” the President never said anything even close to that.
From the start, Hutchinson proved to be an unreliable witness for the January 6 committee. In her initial interview in February 2022, Ms. Hutchinson mentioned she wasn’t sure if President Trump knew about the weapons in the crowd at the Ellipse. Later, in September 2022, she changed her statement, saying President Trump had been informed about the weapons.
Additionally, Republicans on the Administration Committee pointed out that Ms. Hutchinson did not mention President Trump’s supposed attempt to grab the steering wheel on January 6 in her early interviews.
If the lack of corroboration isn’t enough to convince Americans that Hutchinson was lying, her tell-all book “Enough” contains enough outlandish fairy tales to do the trick. In the book, Hutchinson alleges that former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows burned documents daily and told her that the Trump administration was behind the death of Herman Cain, who had died from COVID-19 in the summer of 2020.
Hutchinson further alleges in her book that she was “groped” by Rudy Giuliani on January 6 in a tent full of people.
Even though there was more evidence refuting Hutchinson’s claims than supporting them, the January 6 committee forced the testimony to fit the narrative. Now, the testimony is just another brick in the falling house of lies Democrats have built.
