Federal Judge Tears into the DOJ for Giving Hunter Biden Special Treatment

One of the most annoying things to watch on TV these days is the reports about Hunter Biden’s ongoing “legal” troubles. It’s all so phony. We all know that the corrupt Department of Justice is only pretending to investigate Joe Biden’s crackhead son. At the end of this whole ordeal, everyone knows that Hunter will—at most—receive a slap on the wrist for all the drug trafficking, racketeering, bribery, gun violations, white slavery, and other heinous crimes that he’s allegedly committed. Even though we all know the eventual outcome, that didn’t stop a judge from tearing into DOJ lawyers last week for their obvious double standard when it comes to Hunter.

The Justice Department “prosecutors” who are supposedly trying Hunter Biden on federal gun charges were blasted by US District Judge Ana Reyes last week. Hunter Biden was subpoenaed by House Republicans who are conducting the impeachment investigation over Joe Biden’s foreign bribery schemes. He ignored that subpoena.

The GOP also subpoenaed two DOJ lawyers in the tax division, over allegations related to Hunter Biden’s non-payment of federal taxes. The two DOJ lawyers skipped out on their congressional subpoenas as well.

“There’s a person in jail right now because you all brought a criminal lawsuit against him because he did not appear for a House subpoena,” said Judge Reyes, referring to former President Donald Trump’s advisor Peter Navarro. “And now you guys are flouting those subpoenas. … And you don’t have to show up?”

“I think it’s quite rich you guys pursue criminal investigations and put people in jail for not showing up, but then direct current executive branch employees to take the same approach,” Judge Reyes continued. “You all are making a bunch of arguments that you would never accept from any other litigant.”

The judge is absolutely right. Dr. Peter Navarro is 74 years old, and the Department of Justice aggressively prosecuted him for ignoring a congressional subpoena. The difference between Navarro and Hunter Biden is that Navarro had good reasons to refuse to comply with the subpoena.

The main reason why Navarro thwarted the subpoena was because of executive privilege. Presidential advisors are not required to divulge private conversations with the president, because it’s a violation of the separation of powers under the Constitution. The second reason why Navarro thwarted the subpoena was because it was issued by the fake January 6 Committee, which was not a lawfully formed congressional committee.

Anytime a special committee is formed in Congress, the minority is supposed to be allowed to choose which of its members will serve on it. When former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) formed the January 6 Committee, she refused to allow House Republicans to seat its chosen members like Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Matt Gaetz (R-FL). Instead, Pelosi personally chose two butthurt, Trump-hating RINOs to serve on the committee—Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, who both subsequently lost their seats in Congress.

Since it was not a legitimately formed committee, Navarro told the committee to go pound sand when it subpoenaed it. You can dislike what Navarro did if you choose to do so, but that doesn’t change the fact that he was prosecuted and sent to prison for doing the same thing that Hunter Biden and two DOJ lawyers just did.

The irony of Judge Reyes tearing into the DOJ lawyers for their double standard is that Reyes is a relatively new judge. She was actually appointed by Joe Biden! While this still doesn’t give us any confidence that Hunter Biden will ever see the inside of a jail cell, it does indicate that the DOJ lawyers are not going to have much fun in her courtroom as the case continues.
