President Joe Biden spoke with MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart about his mentioning of the Laken Riley murder at the hands of an illegal in Augusta, Georgia. Despite calling her the wrong name and disrespecting her memory and family, that’s not what he was here to apologize for. He had a bigger fish to fry now.
To him, the phrase “an innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal” was wrong and needed an apology.
“An undocumented person. And I shouldn’t have used illegal, it’s undocumented. And look, when I spoke about the difference between Trump and me, one of the things I talked about in the border was is the way he talks about vermin, the way he talks about these people polluting the blood. I talked about what I’m not going to do. What I won’t do. I’m not going to treat any, any, any of these people with disrespect. Look, they built the country. The reason our economy is growing. We have to control the border and more orderly flow, but I don’t share his view at all.”
This kind of statement is something that we, as a nation, should be appalled to hear from our commander-in-chief. People like her murderer aren’t here getting legitimate jobs or helping to boost our economy. No positive change is coming from their sudden appearance. Yet Biden is bound and determined to try and make it sound like they are here for a good thing, even if it means disrespecting the American people.
Mocking her death by calling her the wrong name was already inflammatory enough. Apologizing because you used the wrong hot-button term to describe her killer is far beyond the limits of what should be considered acceptable. This man doesn’t deserve the term “undocumented” or even illegal. Instead, terms like scum, a waste of life, or living on borrowed time should be what describes him most accurately.
