With primaries for the 2024 election cycle quickly approaching, now is the time for lesser-known and realistic presidential candidates to really take stock and gauge the certainty of a nomination win. For those who can’t see that win, the best option is to drop out.

And that’s precisely what yet another GOP contender for the White House has done. He also made sure to endorse one of his opponents, Donald Trump.

According to Fox News, popular radio host and conservative Larry Elder officially suspended his presidential campaign on Thursday. He, like several others, was never able to gain more than one percent in any polling taken since the race began.

And since he’s no longer running, he reasoned the next best thing was to throw his support behind a man who could win and would do this country some good.

“Now that I am exiting the race, I am proud to announce my endorsement for Donald Trump for President of the United States. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing conservative, America-first principles and policies that have benefited our great nation.”

He added that if we are to “beat Joe Biden” and turn this country around, there’s no answer besides uniting “behind Donald Trump” right now.

Of course, he’s right.

Clearly, Elder and others threw their hat in the ring because they felt they had something to offer the US, some even thinking themselves to be better than Trump, at least on some level. However, there comes a time when reality must be seen for what it is, and personal goals put aside for the betterment of the nation.

That is what Elder is doing.

I do not doubt that he would do a better job than Biden. Then again, just about anyone would. However, Elder sees that Trump is hugely popular, plus he has the resources, willpower, and boldness to do what is needed.

So, the fight is no longer about one man but a nation that needs help.

According to Elder, as well as former GOP contender Perry Johnson, who also recently dropped out and endorsed Trump, the best man to do that at present is our former 45th president.

Former Vice President Mike Pence, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, and William Hurd have all also dropped out of the race.
